You will find background information on cognitions/beliefs and schemas on this page. In the following, we understand beliefs, cognitions, convictions and schemas to be synonymous.

Every childhood, even the happiest one, goes through deep psychological injuries, traumas, basic conflicts and many irrational beliefs/dysfunctional cognitions/negative beliefs (for example: “I am bad”, “I am not worth anything”, “I can’t do anything”). We walk around with this harmful baggage all our lives, usually without realizing it, because we are almost always unaware of it. These beliefs shape and direct us and our thoughts, feelings and actions.

However, everything we believe can also be let go of. To do this, we use simple yet effective methods that do not require confrontation or a journey into the past. The special thing about is that we do this thoroughly. We emphasize this because most approaches and methods only solve the beliefs and cognitions on a cognitive level. But this is incomplete, because in order to treat them thoroughly, you also need to release the tension and stress of the beliefs. Because it is precisely the tension that is often very difficult.

Cognition test

If you already suspect a cognition or belief, you can test yourself to see if it is really in you. You can do this with our free belief test, which you can find on the right-hand side of the screen. Dysfunctional cognitions

The challenge now is to find the specific beliefs, because only when we have specified and named them can we work on them. It is almost always about the most general formulations, i.e. not “I feel worthless again”, but “I am worthless.”

Question: Why should we harbor such harmful beliefs?

In early childhood, we were helpless and dependent, powerless and reliant on help, love, affection, cleansing, nourishment and confirmation from outside. But when the mind, and with it the world view, emerged, we were able to take refuge in a protective confinement. This inner confinement was the reassuring image of the world with its explanations, beliefs, rationalizations, promises and hopes. With this retreat, we avoided fear, pain, insecurity and other overwhelming and “negative” aspects. It has a calming effect when the world view is clear, when we can understand what is going on inside and outside, when we understand what is going on. Because then we secretly believe that we can control it, so there is no reason to be afraid. In our early childhood years in particular, belief and knowledge gave us security and (apparent) control over the uncertain, the outside world and the fear-inducing dynamics of the forces within us. In addition, we unconsciously desire belief and knowledge because it also strengthens and reinforces our self-image and view of the world and thus also gives us security, power and (apparent) control.

Question: Isn’t it enough if I only install positive beliefs?

Even if we deeply embed a positive cognition in our belief system, the negative beliefs are usually far more powerful. Normally, you choose the topic where there is a need for optimization. Most likely because you already have a lot of negative beliefs in this area. The negative beliefs are more powerful and more effective, as these are actually always the result of a highly charged tension in a significant, traumatic situation. If you only install new positive beliefs without dissolving the old negative ones, the old beliefs will not become ineffective. This does not lead to success, at most to further inner conflicts and you become more “immobile” and rigid due to these many counter-intentions.
