The thorough and comprehensive approach
8 min read.
The thorough and comprehensive treatment of a repressed emotion (fear, shame, anger, etc.) or negative cognition (nC).
We have been researching the thorough and comprehensive treatment of repressed specific emotions such as fear, shame, anger, etc. (for example: fear of losing control, shame of being oneself, feelings of rejection) for over 12 years.
It is obvious that this approach takes longer in treatment, but it has deeper effects. However, we have found that it produces significantly deeper and more comprehensive effects than the “standard” approach to anxiety treatment (where the distressing anxiety is treated by the psychotherapist until the anxiety level is reduced to a point that satisfies the patient, at which point they discontinue treatment).
Which specific fears are treated?
In psychology, we distinguish between two different forms of fear. First, there are normal fears, which are healthy and natural and warn us of danger in certain situations. Without them, humanity would have died out long ago. Then there are the fears from the past, also known as pathological fears. These are not healthy but pathogenic (disease-causing) and have stressful and harmful effects; they do not warn of danger in situations and should be treated. These were repressed in early childhood as a protective mechanism in an overwhelming situation and have since been excluded from consciousness.
The Structure
It was only over the course of the last few decades that knowledge about the complete composition and structure of a repressed emotion began to accumulate. And it was only during this time that methods emerged to treat such a structure completely—what we call “dissolving” (since every emotion literally dissolves in the end). This made it possible for the first time to completely and thoroughly dissolve a fear. We began this 12 years ago, and during this research period, we treat emotions ONLY in this way: thoroughly and completely. As already mentioned, this new approach has significantly deeper and more comprehensive effects; especially with highly charged fears, the levels of impact are entirely different. Thus, this approach also reveals entirely new treatment possibilities for problems/illnesses that were previously unthinkable to heal.
What exactly do we mean by:
Completely:
Every repressed emotion has several stages if one wishes to treat it completely/thoroughly.
1. Physical level: The tension associated with the repressed emotion (fear, feeling, anger, etc.).
2. Cognitive level: The underlying cognition/belief is challenged (released from the belief).
3. Physical level: The tension associated with the underlying negative cognition.
4. Anchoring a positive, beneficial belief.
These are the steps to fully address a repressed emotion.
Thoroughly:
By thoroughly, we mean that we treat every emotion thoroughly, all the way to the end. This means that the fear (or other emotion)—that is, the tension—is completely reduced until nothing of it remains. And also treat the tension of the negative cognition thoroughly, all the way to the end, until nothing of it remains in the body. And if the positive cognition also contains tension, reduce that tension as well until nothing of it remains in the body.
This works with every fear and every other emotion (shame, grief, anger, etc.).
We use the term “dissolved” because that is literally what happens when the tension associated with the emotion is reduced until nothing remains. Hence the names of our apps: “Dissolve Fear” and “Dissolve Beliefs.”
Insights from over 12 years of research
– Any fear or other emotion can be thoroughly dissolved, regardless of when it arose, its size, intensity, subject, etc. Every emotion is always finite, so it is always just a matter of time before it, too, is thoroughly dissolved to the very end.
– The treatment time for the negative cognition is similar in length to that of the repressed emotion.
– The earlier the emotion was repressed, the more intensely charged it is. Almost all highly charged fears originated in the first four years of life, as this is the age when the child goes through developmental stages.
– You can literally feel when the fear treatment is coming to an end, as a warm, vibrant sensation spreads over the area where the tension in the body was located. You feel an inner wound closing. This is an experience also described by Peter Levine (trauma research). Fears are trauma-related disorders.
– Deeper effects – We also observe that there are effects independent of the specific fear currently being treated.
Example:
Every day, after about three hours of treatment, the baseline state begins to change/improve slightly and permanently. You can perceive this by the next day at the latest. If you do this daily for a while, you will notice that your baseline state also changes every day, and after some time, you become significantly calmer, more deeply at peace, and you come more “into your own,” regardless of the specific fears being treated. This is also obvious because almost the entire treatment consists of releasing tensions that are deeply rooted in the body. These are also referred to as stressors, and they accumulate. You can tell this from the (physical) twitches that occur from time to time during the process. The entire body is filled with spontaneous twitches, thereby releasing deep tension holistically, on multiple levels.
Additionally, this leads to:
the measurement of fears.
Since we have been using the DFTR method for over 10 years (as it is, to our knowledge, the fastest method available), we can determine a qualitative factor of fear.
We measure fears in terms of their treatment duration. Since every fear is subjective—that is, always individually intense—this is the only reasonably “objective” value. Objective, of course, only in the sense that it is not interchangeable with others (for everyone, this fear, if they have it, is charged with varying intensity, but it is measurable for oneself). This becomes relevant when you treat multiple fears, for example, to heal larger problems/disorders/illnesses.
Of course, all of this applies not only to fears but also to all other emotions.
Another new approach: (Only recommended to a limited extent due to the time required): Treating multiple repressed emotions and cognitive patterns.
This opens up entirely new treatment possibilities for disorders or illnesses that are otherwise untreatable. If you are interested, please write to us.
The only adventure worth living can now only be found within for modern people. Carl Gustav Jung. Swiss psychiatrist and founder of analytical psychology
“Psychoanalysis remains a privilege of the few, and its therapeutic results are often disputed. But when one has repeatedly witnessed with different people the power that is released when the consequences of upbringing can be dismantled;… when one sees how these forces must be used destructively everywhere else to destroy the living in oneself and in others, because this was regarded from an early age as evil and threatening, then one wishes to convey to society something of the experience gained in the analytical situation. Whether this conveyance succeeds remains a question. …But society has a right, as far as this is at all possible, to learn what actually happens in the analyst’s office. For what comes to light here is not merely a private matter concerning a few sick or confused individuals, but a matter that concerns us all.” Alice Miller, “In the Beginning Was Upbringing,” p. 22.
Those who do not address the root causes are only treating the symptoms.
“Thinking will not overcome fear, but action will.”
